On the next Your Call, we'll talk about the role of community colleges in higher education. A "student task force" is considering plans to restructure community colleges to be geared more towards increasing transfer rates to 4-year colleges. But some students and faculty worry these changes will actually make higher education less accessible. So what do community colleges mean to you? And how do we maximize the potential of this great resource? Join us at 10 or email us at feedback@yourcallradio.org. It's Your Call with Rose Aguilar, and you.

I Teach solar design and installation at CCSF. Half of the Calif. community colleges do the same.
ReplyDeleteSolar is the fastest growing construction trade. Where else can people get this training at a reasonable price?
It seems pretty obvious to me that if the Community College system has faced massive budget cuts, students will have a difficult time getting the classes they need. The Student Success Task Force never addresses the funding issue, they simply use it as an excuse to push through their for-profit agenda.
ReplyDeleteYou can see more info on the Task Force in the new issue of the City College of San Francisco's newspaper "The Guardsman!" (yes, shameless plug)
