  1. I think the way to protect my children who are 8 and 5, is to teach them about marketing so they know what is happening within them when they see/hear/encounter a commercial that makes them want or think they want, something.

  2. I've written a song about marketing that I sing to the kids at Berkeley's Washington Elementary school where I volunteer. Here's the first verse:

    The toy on the TV looked like a dream
    It spun and it whistled and it blew out steam
    I took my allowance and bought it at the store
    The toy was such a bore that it made me want to snore
