Great program! Also, as former Asst. Secretary of Agriculture, Lester Brown said recently (podcast on World Affairs Council & Commonwealth Club websites), if food is a commodity, China has enough money to buy US grown grain WHILE Americans starve. This is of no concern now, but as the Himalayan plateau dries out and arable land area decreases, this may become a concern.
ReplyDeleteLastly, I'd like to plug the movie, "The End of Poverty?" playing now and nicely integrating how the last 500 years of capitalism and colonialism have influenced the current pattern of agriculture imports and exports.
